April 25th, 2013 by fruthpharmacy

Ironton, Ohio (April 5, 2013) – On the heels of opening up Store 26 and joining the Ironton community, Fruth will soon be celebrating the opening of Store 27 and its second location in Ironton, Ohio.
Mr. Jim Staley, considering retirement, spoke with Lynne Fruth, President and Chairman of the Board for Fruth Pharmacy, about the possibility of selling his business with Fruth Pharmacy.
“I have so much respect for him,” Fruth said. “His primary concern was to make sure someone would continue to take care of his patients at the same level they had provided for the last 65 years, and what would happen to his employees. It was important that his family owned business continue as a family owned business.”
All employees of Staley pharmacy, including Jim Staley and his sister Dee, were offered positions with Fruth Pharmacy. Most employees decided to continue employment with Fruth Pharmacy. Staley closed the 9th Street location. Employees were offered positions with Fruth Pharmacy at the downtown 3rd Street location or the Fruth location on State Route 141, across from St. Mary’s Hospital.
On March 16th, Staley’s green & white colors changed to red, white, & blue with the hanging of the new Fruth capsule sign. With a weekend to renovate and open, the changes were made very quickly in order to benefit Staley’s customers.
Not wanting to lose the historic feel, many of the original fixtures remain. An indoor telephone booth, as well as built in display cabinetry, was kept in the renovation plans. New paint, new flooring, new display shelves, and an increased gift area and grocery items are now available for customers to pick up additional needed items alongside their prescriptions.
A Grand Opening celebration is planned for the week of April 29th through May 4th with Grand Opening Specials.
“It was a great opportunity for us,” stated Fruth. “When we opened our first store in Ironton in November of last year – we were overwhelmed by the outpouring of support. Customers were excited and happy to be shopping in our store. We felt welcomed wholeheartedly in the Ironton Community. It is exciting to now have two convenient locations for our Ironton customers.”
In addition Fruth Pharmacy serves as the 340B Contract Pharmacy Provider for the Lawrence County Community Action Organization, a system of family medical centers, with over 13,000 patients. The partnership is a great fit for Fruth Pharmacy and the CAO as both are dedicated to improving the lives of patients in the community.
