Fruth Pharmacy Awards Scholarship Funds

Following their most successful Scholarship Golf Tournament ever, Fruth Pharmacy distributed over $40,000 to support college scholarships. Marshall University and their new School of Pharmacy was the recipient of $15,000 to help establish an endowed scholarship for a student in the new School of Pharmacy. Marshall University also received $5,000 to support the Fruth Pharmacy Scholarships which are awarded to employees of Fruth Pharmacy and their children. This year, seven students received the Fruth Pharmacy Scholarships to attend Marshall. President Lynne Fruth stated, “These are the scholarships that are near and dear to my heart. Helping our employees and their children achieve the dream of a college education is very important to us at Fruth Pharmacy.”
West Virginia University School of Pharmacy received $5,000 to support the scholarship fund for pharmacy students at WVU. Last year, this fund provided scholarships to four students. Likewise the University of Charleston School of Pharmacy was the recipient of $8,000 for the Fruth Pharmacy Scholarship which provided scholarships for two students this year. Ohio State University received $2,000 to support the Fruth Scholarship which provided two scholarships for pharmacy students from Southeastern Ohio.
University of Rio Grande received $4,000 to support the Henry and Marjorie Fruth Scholarship designed for local students attending Rio Grande and the Jack and Frances Fruth Scholarship which provides a scholarship for a Fruth Pharmacy employee or dependent. In addition, $1,000 was contributed to the NACDS (National Association of Chain Drug Stores) Foundation which supports hundreds of scholarships for pharmacy students at various universities across the country. Putnam County, WV Schools received $1,000 to award five $200 scholarships at their annual County Math Field Day Competition. The top scoring Senior from each of the five area high schools will receive an award. Mason County Chamber of Commerce also received $600 toward their annual scholarship awarded to a student from Mason County.
The Fruth Scholarship Program provides over 20 scholarships each year for students in our local area. The Fruth Pharmacy Annual Golf Tournament helps support this program by raising money for the fund and Fruth Pharmacy employees join together to plan and host the event each year in August. “This is just another example of Fruth giving back to the communities where we operate.
