Nexafed® is a Nasal Decongestant.
It contains Pseudoephedrine.
Currently it only comes in 30 mg.
It is tamper resistant, which prevents it from being used in meth making.
Fruth Pharmacy is currently replacing 30mg Sudafed® with 30mg Nexafed®.
It works the same - except Nexafed® can't be used in making meth.
Until there are replacements for other strengths of pseudoephedrine products, Fruth Pharmacy will continue to have those products for our customers.
Meth production is a huge problem in both Ohio and West Virginia. It is our goal to help cut back the availability of meth making medications to criminals.
We are aware that this step is not a total solution. It is simply a drop in a very large bucket of drug problems affecting both states' communities in which we serve.
We are still required by law in West Virginia to use the NPLEx system. Tracking of drug sales for our pharmacies will not change in either state.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we make this transition.
We hope that other pharmacies will follow suit and that more drug manufacturers will include this technology in their medications.
